In order to get indexed, Google has to be able to find you. Getting a link from another site will accomplish this easily. Because Google already knows about these sites, it will follow the new links to you.

A couple of great places to do this are in your Twitter or Facebook profiles. Because these sites are indexed multiple times every day. So your new link will get indexed very quickly.

Gaining ranking

After this first hurdle, you need to start gaining ranking. Google has billions of pages indexed, so just getting into their database does not mean anyone will see you.

This is also called on-page SEO. And it means that the content on your page matches the keywords you’re targeting. Obviously, the article you’re reading now is about search engine optimization. One reason Google knows this is because the words search engine optimization appear inside it. Another reason is because there are related words, like website traffic, too.

You also need to make sure the title tags, outbound links and the domain itself match the topic of the page. Google uses all of this content to figure out what your site is really about.

Link strategy

The next thing to consider is your links. The links to your site, as well as the sites you link to are important. It’s very important that you have more links coming in than you have going out. So the number of inbound links is important.

Article spinning is a super easy way to get a bunch of inbound links. To use this technique you write articles related to the topic of your websites. You have to also write several different versions of your articles. Because you’re going to post a unique copy of it to lots of different websites. The more sites you can do this for, the more links you’ll get back.

Getting activity

The last thing we know for sure is that Google likes to see active sites. You can’t just put up a page and leave it alone and expect it to rank well. Regular content updates to your site are expected. RSS feeds are an easy way to keep your content changing.

Comments from other people on your page are another fantastic way to keep your content updated. To get comments from others, you need to get others to visit your site. One simple method for doing this is to use forums.

Set up forum profiles with the ones related to your website. Visit often and make posts. Always include a link back to your site. This will get your more inbound links. And it will also get real visitors to your site.


It’s important that you do everything listed here. But let’s face it, writing multiple versions of the same article. Setting up tons of profiles on forums. And visiting all the sites to post up your comments and articles takes a really long time. And the bad news is that you probably won’t do it.

The good news is that there are automated software programs out there that will do this for you. So my best advice is to automate as much of this as you can. This way you’ll actually do it. And if you don’t do it, you simply will not ever get free traffic from Google.
